At Alyshaan we feel it is important to give back to our community and to help make a difference in the world.  The following are our favorite charities.

Bridging Arizona accepts donations of new and gently used furniture and household items.  In collaboration with social service agencies and churches who qualify families in need, we have distributed 200,000′s items  to 183 social service programs in the past 8 years.

Bridging accepts donations of mattresses and box springs in good or better condition to provide to children for our “BEDS FOR KIDS” Program.  Donated beds are cleaned and sterilized with the disinfectant Steri-Fab.  The mattresses are then wrapped in plastic, ensuring they remain clean until the time Bridging finds them a new home.Clean, comfy “BEDS FOR KIDS” is One of Bridging’s favorite programs! Alyshaan donated $10,505.00 (in May 2013) worth of childrens rugs to Bridging Arizona on behalf of ASID.

United for Change, a non-profit corporation, is a resource for veterans in need.  Their purpose is to provide needed services and comfort to homeless and struggling veterans.  It is our belief that the words “homeless” and “veteran” should never be used in the same sentence.  The Phoenix area alone has approximately 3,500 veterans that are sleeping on the streets every night!  They operate the Veterans for Veterans furniture bank, which provides furnishings to veterans (at no cost to them) as they transition from homelessness into housing. They also sponsor, provide and serve home cooked dinners for local veterans living in a transitional facility. Alyshaan and their clients donated $12,000 worth of furniture and rugs to United for Change.  Please visit their website for more information.

OIC Sullivan's Placee is a Transitional Housing Program for Homeless Veterans

There are 46.2 million people living in poverty in the United States, resulting in the chronic homelessness of an estimated 1.6 million. Veterans comprise a disproportionate 40% of the homeless male population.

The mission of the Arizona Opportunities Industrialization Center through Sullivan’s Place is to assist veterans and their families in attaining self-sufficiency through the provision of dignified housing and supportive services. To accommodate the diverse veteran population in the Phoenix area, two houses are designed for four single males, one house for four single females, and one house for a married, four-person family. Occupants of Sullivan’s Place will also benefit from access to mentoring programs, skills training, and job placement services to help them better attain sustainable self-sufficiency.

Alyshaan and their clients donated $12,000 worth of furniture and rugs to OIC.  Please visit their website for more information.

Smile Train is one of Alyshaan's favorite charities simiply because such a small amount of money can make the world of difference to one life.  Clefts are a major problem in developing countries where more than one million children are suffering with unrepaired clefts. Most cannot eat or speak properly. Aren’t allowed to attend school or hold a job.  Being born with a cleft in a developing country is truly a curse. Every baby born in Uganda with a cleft is given the name Ajok which means literally, “cursed by God.” with some newborns killed or abandoned right after birth.  The good news is every single child with a cleft can be helped with surgery that costs as little as $250 and takes as little as 45 minutes.
